Our Favorite Mattresses Are on Sale for Memorial Day

Whether you want to spend as little as possible or have no budget constraints, you can find a discounted mattress right now.

Spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on one item is hard to stomach. But when it comes to mattresses, you'll want to invest in quality because sleep is important for your health. We've tested a number of mattresses to find options across a wide range of budgets to ensure you spend your money wisely.

The good news? Almost all of our favorites are steeply discounted for Memorial Day. Mattresses frequently go on sale, which is why you should never buy one at full price, but this weekend is the best time in the year to snag one at the best price. The prices below are for the queen-sized version for simplicity's sake, but other sizes are also on sale.

Hybrid Vs. All-Foam Mattresses

Most mattresses available online are made of several layers of memory foam. There are a few of these all-foam options we like below, but we prefer hybrid mattresses and think you might too. Hybrids are also made of foam, but they have hundreds of individually wrapped springs sandwiched between that foam. It gets you the best of both worlds, from traditional box-spring mattresses and bed-in-a-box memory foam ones. Hybrids tend to be more supportive, and because coils help with airflow, you might sleep cooler at night.

Our Favorite Mattress Deals

Helix Midnight Luxe

This is our favorite mattress at the moment. If the high price doesn't deter you, it really is great to relax on at night. It's usually $200 off during major sales events; the base price has been raised by $100 since we last checked, which is disappointing. Still, this remains the best of the best, and you get two of Helix's pillows for free.

Use code MEMORIALDAY200 for $200 off $1,750 or more; MEMORIALDAY150 if you're spending $1,250 or more; or MEMORIALDAY100 for $100 off everything else.

Allswell Hybrid Mattress.

Use the code MEMDAY to see a 20 percent discount on one of our favorite—and least expensive—mattresses. Allswell's mattresses don't suffer in quality despite the low prices. This standard hybrid is medium-firm and topped with a gel-infused memory foam layer to keep you comfortable and cool.

We also like the Allswell Luxe Hybrid, which is discounted to $540 ($135 off) and has three extra layers of foam plus a plusher top cover. The Supreme Hybrid is also another great option. It feels like a $2,000 mattress for less than $1,000, and it's now $788 ($197 off). Whichever Allswell you go with, we think you'll be happy. You can compare the three versions on the website.

Leesa Hybrid Mattress.

This is another great mattress we tested. It's not as luxurious as the Helix, but you'll save a little bit of money. (Plus two free pillows!) The original Leesa is discounted to $949 ($200 off). It's comfy but not as good as the hybrid.

  • Layla Two-Sided Foam Mattress for $949 ($150 off): We really like the design of this mattress as it gives you the option of sleeping on a medium-firm side or a medium soft-side depending on what you feel is better. If you're not sure what you prefer, or simply want the option of changing as your life does, get this one. You'll also get two free pillows, a sheet set, and a mattress protector.
  • Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress for $931 ($164 off): This is a great mattress if you're in need of pressure relief. Reviews director Jeffrey Van Camp says it was strange to lie on at first because he sank right into its adaptive foam, but it's still supportive, pressure-reliving, and cool.
  • Mattress Firm Tulo Medium Mattress for $320 ($360 off): The Tulo mattress is already cheaper than most other foam mattresses we like. Plus it comes in soft, medium, or firm so you can customize it to your liking.

Reviews director Jeffrey Van Camp is testing it now, and while he says it felt plasticky at first, he got used to it quickly.
  • Keetsa Tea Leaf Supreme for $1,352 ($238 off): Use code STAYCOMFY for 15 percent off this mattress that WIRED writer Matt Jancer slept on for most of 2020. He's a side-sleeper and says it's supportive, though we're not convinced that tea leaf extract does anything for “freshness.”
  • The Purple Mattress for $1,099 ($100 off): Purple products have a nice Jell-O-like feel, and we really like sleeping on this foam mattress. It's not as comfortable as hybrids, and Purple's hybrid option is $600 more.
  • Casper Standard Foam Mattress for $$931 ($164 off): We like Casper's hybrid mattress more which is linked above, but this all-foam one is also discounted if that's what you prefer.
